Custom Signage is on Par for Grinnell College Golf Course

Grinnell College is undergoing a multi-year project to transform the campus’ landscape. The first phase of project began in Spring of 2017 with updates to the college’s golf course. The architect came to Latitude with an idea. They didn’t want a standard product for tee box markers and other wayfinding signs.

Latitude took their designs and engineered the exact specifications to make their desired look come to life. Latitude signage experts found the optimal material for durability and ease of maintenance.

Improving Grinnell’s Golf Game

Grinnell College Golf Course gets a makeover with new custom fabricated signs from Latitude.

"Latitude has been a pleasure to work with. They offer small-town quality service with a global footprint."

— Shane Hart, General Manager of Grinnell College Golf Course

Golfers at the Grinnell College Golf Course no longer have a good excuse for losing their golf balls. Well, at least no excuse for losing their way as new custom signage at the clubhouse and tee boxes are as helpful as they are handsome. As part of a multi-year project to transform Grinnell College’s campus landscape, Ayers Saint Gross, an architectural firm in Baltimore, Maryland, started the project with updates to the college’s golf course.

The architect came to Latitude with an idea. They didn’t want a standard product. They wanted a double post with center panel sign that would work for tee box markers as well as other wayfinding signs.

Engineering Great Architectural Signage

Latitude took their designs, which included colors, graphics, and general sizes, and engineered the exact specifications to make their desired look come to life. For example, the architect recommended an aluminum panel for durability. Latitude signage experts found the optimal aluminum material for durability and ease of maintenance that would not be too heavy or add unnecessary costs.

The final product is a digital print on a painted panel of 1/4-inch thick aluminum that is mounted with security screws. This solution creates a seamless floating appearance, yet offers the flexibility to update the panels in the future if the golf course greens ever change.

Signage Installation, Coordination is Key

Along with fabricating custom signage for the golf course, Latitude’s professional installers worked with the college, the city, and the architect to find the perfect placement for the new clubhouse and tee box signs. From beginning to end, Latitude signage experts delivered proactive solutions that made sense for the needs of this project. Everything was in place in May when the golfing season started to take full swing.
