ADA Sign Guidelines

`

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has been an enforceable law in the US since July 1991.

Recently we have developed a new White Paper title ADA Accessible Signage Update. This white paper outlines all of the updated codes issues related to ADA signage.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has been law since the early 1990’s and was updated in mid 2012. Since the original ADA became enforceable, there had been several updates to accessible codes by individual states but no update on the federal level. The 2010 Standard for Accessible Design (SAD) was developed to harmonize all the codes across the country and on March 15, 2012 became the new ADA codes that everyone must follow. Testing 1 2 3. . .

Here are a few key updates that are outlined in the White Paper:

  • Tactile Character
  • Provision for Dual Message Signs
  • Kerning
  • Mounting Height
