The Results Are In and a Guitar Wins the 2018 Favorite Sign

February 2019

`

We started with a small sketch and a 'pie in the sky' idea for the Kum & Go Stage signage. As it was a significant feature on our new grandstand stage and expanded seating plaza, we wanted the sign to make an impact. Latitude ran with the idea, bringing the guitar to life.

This 22-foot wide "guitar" sign is truly unique in many ways.

It recognizes a $1 million contribution from Kum & Go.

With this money the Blue Ribbon Foundation is able to renovate the historic grandstand.

It is both a temporary AND a permanent sign.

This sign is able to be permanently installed in the future. Until then, this guitar will be installed and removed from a temporary stage that is brought in. Here’s a VIDEO from the 2018 install.

The illumination is NOT neon.

Rather, it is a G2G Aurora Flex White LED to give it a “neon” look around the perimeter of the guitar and the Kum & Go logo. The illumination was determined through a collaborative design process between The Blue Ribbon Foundation, and the Latitude team led by Tony Squire.

This sign is above all the best acts in town, every summer.

For 11 days every summer people join in the fun at the Iowa State Fair. Each night of the fair there is a performance at the grandstand. People come from all over to see these national level performers. Check out who is coming this year.
