Meet Todd Carey, VP of Business Development & Marketing
At Latitude Signage + Design, great signage is shaped through creativity, collaboration, and strategic leadership. Leading the business development and marketing teams is Todd Carey, whose journey with Latitude reflects deep experience and a genuine passion for all things signage.
A Career Built from the Ground Up
Before joining Latitude, Todd was a middle school math teacher, nurturing patience, communication skills, and a love for problem-solving.
“One day, I approached the owner, Tom Latimer, who is also my father-in-law, about working for him while earning an MBA,” Todd says. “He agreed, and I’ve learned the company from all angles.”
Todd has sat in nearly every seat at Latitude: installer, estimator, project manager, sales, general manager and now VP of Business Development and Marketing. That breadth of experience gives Todd a uniquely holistic understanding of both client challenges and internal operations, empowering him to guide solutions that are not just clever, but practical and effective.
Always Up for a Challenge
Today, Todd thrives on opportunities that push Latitude’s designers and fabricators to think differently, discover new materials or methods, and create signage that’s truly one-of-a-kind. For Todd, seeing an idea evolve from concept to reality is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
His favorite type of projects are donor recognition displays, where he can work closely with organizations to develop custom installations that honor donors, tell stories, and leave lasting impressions. Rather than cookie-cutter solutions, these displays demand deep collaboration and creativity, and Todd loves being part of the team that brings them to life.
“There are almost limitless possibilities to what we can do. I find it really interesting to see what our design and production team can come up with. I never see the same thing twice.”
Latitude’s Difference: A People-First Culture
For Todd, what sets Latitude apart is the culture. What began as a modest garage operation in the 80’s has grown into a Midwest signage leader, but the sense of family and teamwork remains at the core. With many long-tenured team members and relationships that feel more like family, Todd says the culture here is visible in how people work, collaborate, and support each other.
That mindset extends to how Todd works with clients, making open communication, transparency, and partnership just as important as technical expertise.
“There are so many options when it comes to design, materials, fabrication, and installation methods. We literally learn or do something new every day. While no one can know it all, I’m confident that if I don’t know the answer to a question, I know the person who does have the answer. I rely on our whole team to figure out the best solutions.”
Beyond the Office
While Todd’s professional story is rooted in signage strategy and leadership, he’s just as enthusiastic about life outside of work with his wife, Erin, and their two sons. Friends and colleagues know him as a wannabe golf pro, freelance comedian, and general fun-haver. You can count on Todd to bring energy and personality to every room.
